LAWSUIT

Dow was sued by a victim’s family after their child was sexually assaulted by one of Dow’s employees. Dow promoted the man and put him in charge of overnights with children even AFTER one child complained about his lewd conduct. The case settled for $260,000.

As the founder and director of a taxpayer funded daycare and Boys and Girls Club, Rebecca Dow was responsible for the welfare of children. 

One of Dow’s employees was accused of lewd conduct with a child. Dow didn’t fire him. Instead, she promoted him. And put him in charge of children at overnight sleepovers. 

The man then molested two children at the overnight sleepovers at Dow’s facility.

Dow then tried to bully the victim’s family.  The parents reported that Rebecca Dow tried to cover up the scandal by pressuring the family not to sue. Dow was worried about the impact the assault would have on her political career, according to the lawsuit.

But the victims didn’t back down to Dow’s pressure. They sued Dow and her organizations. And received a settlement of $260,000.

The man was convicted and sent to prison.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION

Dow has voted multiple times to encourage illegal immigration in New Mexico. Dow voted twice to give stimulus funds to illegal immigrants.

Dow was one of only five Republicans who voted to give job licenses to illegal immigrants. This makes New Mexico a magnet for illegal immigration, as none of our neighboring states – including Colorado – allows illegal immigrants to obtain professional licenses.

Dow talks tough about standing up and fighting for border security. But she didn’t even bother to show up to vote on key pieces of legislation Michelle Lujan Grisham passed weakening our border security. Dow missed the vote when MLG passed the law giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.

SOFT ON CRIME

Rebecca Dow voted to mandate parole for criminals sentenced to life in prison. These criminals are among the most heinous – they include first degree murderers and child killers. The bill was so extreme that it outraged prosecutors and victims who succeeded in having it vetoed.

SKIPPING WORK AND MISSING VOTES

Rebecca Dow makes a lot of promises, but when New Mexicans need her most, she’s often nowhere to be found.

As State Rep., Rebecca Dow serves on the Economic Development and Education Study Committees. Yet, while New Mexicans struggle in a tough economy and the worst schools in the country, Rebecca Dow couldn’t even be bothered to show up for important meetings:

Rebecca Dow also repeatedly failed to show up for key votes in the legislature below. When pressed on where she was for the key vote on MLG’s Green New Deal, she flippantly replied, “I don’t know, in the bathroom?”

But missing key votes is a pattern with Dow. Here are some of the major votes she has missed.

While Dow has missed key votes and committee meetings in Santa Fe, she did show up to take taxpayer-funded junkets to fancy resorts like the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs and another junket to Nashville.

RAISING TAXES

New Mexicans are feeling the burden of high prices because of inflation. But if politician Rebecca Dow got her way, we’d be paying even more because of higher taxes. She’s supported tax increases on everything from gas to food to even nursing homes.

Now, she is lying and saying she has NEVER voted to raise taxes.

Let’s look at the long list of tax raises Dow has supported.

It takes next-level arrogance for Dow to falsely claim that she’s never voted for a tax increase, when Dow sponsored a bill to increase the gross receipts tax. As the analysis stated, the Dow bill would “significantly” raise gross receipts tax. See the bill here.  Read non-partisan analysis here. 

Rebecca Dow voted for higher gas taxes. Dow’s vote would have allowed liberal mayors to increase gas taxes all by themselves. Fortunately, Republican Governor Susana Martinez vetoed it. See the vote here.

Rebecca Dow supports increasing the food and gas tax. Dow made the statement at a candidate forum in which she said her tax reforms would increase the food and gas tax. – Grant County Beat; 9/29/2020

Dow was laying the groundwork for a per-mile driver tax before Joe Biden. This tax scheme would obviously hurt those living in rural areas the most. See the vote here.

Rebecca Dow voted to raise taxes on nursing home patients, known as the Nursing Home Bed Tax. Fortunately, it was vetoed by Republican Governor Susana Martinez. See the vote here and read Veto Message here.

And Dow didn’t even bother to show up to vote on MLG’s massive tax increase bill. Just like when MLG passed her liberal Green New Deal and free college tuition, Dow took a walk on the tax increase vote and gave MLG and the Democrats a free pass. See the vote here. 

EDUCATION

Rebecca Dow now admits that a 2021 bill she voted for is in fact Critical Race Theory. 

Dow voted FOR House Bill 43, known as the “Black Education Act,” which requires anti-racism training for teachers and creates a 1-800 number to report any racial bias in public schools. This bill requires the creation and development of curricula and programs to teach racial culture and history.

Dow took to social media to complain about teachers receiving the very racial sensitivity training she voted to make law just last year. Dow stated unequivocally that such training is Critical Race Theory. 

Dow was one of only six Republicans to vote for the teacher union bill Governor Lujan Grisham passed that did away with school letter grades.

MORE LIBERAL VOTES….

Rebecca Dow was one of only two Republicans who voted for Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s raid of the state’s permanent fund. The massive spending increase will directly benefit the organizations Dow founded.

Dow didn’t even bother to show up for the vote on Governor Lujan Grisham’s “Green New Deal.” This radical bill raised energy prices for New Mexicans and is now threatening to cause rolling blackouts this summer. It was one of the most consequential bills in 2019, but Rebecca Dow didn’t even show up for the vote.
